What if I want to cancel my registration?
Important note: 5 Star Camps reserves the right to change or update our policies and/or programs if the Ministry of Health guidelines change due to COVID-19 restrictions, prior to, or during the summer as these changes could be beyond our control.
Our Registration is slated to launch March 3nd, 2025 at 9:00am.
Cancellations between March 3, 2025 and June 5, 2025 (inclusive) will be subject to a $30.00 administration fee per family.
Cancellations between June 6, 2025 and June 20, 2025 (inclusive) will be subject to a $100 administration fee per family.
After June 20, 2025, there will be NO refunds given. Once camp has begun if a child or their cohort has to quarantine due to COVID-19, we will issue a credit for days missed in September, to be applied to next summer. Our upcoming COVID-19 Public Health guidelines will outline COVID-19 protocols.
If a shutdown is initiated by local, provincial, or federal health authorities, a refund will be issued for days missed, subject to a $100 administration fee per family.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these ever-changing times during a national pandemic.
What if I want to change my registration dates?
You may make a change to your registration dates before June 6, 2025 without any fees, just email us with your request. This is subject to availability. Please note that after June 6, 2025 there is a $25 change fee required.
How do you divide up your age groups?
Depending on the population of registered campers, we will divide our age groups in the following ways:
5-6 years
7-8 years
9-10 years
11-12 years
How is your camp different from other sports camps?
See Why 5 Star Camps to learn how!
Do you have access to a pool?
No, but we have a water station which includes water inflatables, dunk tank and fire hose which enables us to tailor our usage to the demands of hot weather.
Is there any travel required for camp activities?
No! All of our standard camp activities take place on the 5 Star property. When we want to see special guests, they come to us!
Do you have any special events?
Definitely! One day each week, we have a special theme such as crazy hair/hat day and wet and wild day. Every Thursday afternoon we play our camp favourite, Survival. We also have a special event each Friday afternoon.
My child takes daily medication. How do you deal with that?
If possible, it is best to administer medication at home prior to coming to camp. If this is not possible, fill out our “Personal and Health Information Form”. Please provide written instructions concerning administration of medications. All medications must be given to camp staff at the beginning of the day.
I noticed that my 5-year old was playing in a game with 12-year old’s. What safety precautions do you have for such a wide range of ages?
We are very careful about safety. Only non-contact activities that are appropriate for a wide range of ages will be played by the group as a whole. Camp-wide games are only played during before and after-care periods.
What happens if my child is sick or injured?
If your child is too sick to engage in activities we ask that you keep him or her at home. If your child becomes ill during the day he/she will be brought inside and parents will be contacted. We have access to beds so that your child can lie down. If a serious injury occurs that requires medical attention you will also be contacted. In emergency situations we will call 911.
What are your pick-up and drop-off procedures?
We ask that parents sign their child in and out at the beginning and end of the day. One of our counsellors will be in charge of sign-in/sign-out. We ask that anyone picking up your child show photo identification.
What is the “Survival Game”?
Survival is a simulation game of animal survival played by all campers aged 7 and up. Players are designated as carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. They are each given a number of life tags and a list of items they must collect. At the same time they must avoid being caught by predators. If they are caught they will lose one life tag. They are also on the hunt for prey (carnivores and omnivores). Also to be avoided are “fire”, “disease” and “man”. The objective of the game is to stay alive. This is done by keeping as many life tags as possible, collecting other players’ life tags and collecting as many items as possible. This game shows kids what it is really like to live as an animal in the wild. It is often the highlight of the summer for our campers!
How can I reach someone once camp has started?
During camp, staff can always be reached at 613-256-4589.
Can my child be in the same group as his/her friend?
We can accommodate individual requests to have children in the same group as long as they are in the same age group.
